In eighth century, Guru Padmasambhava, the second Buddha, came to the sacred place 'Hyolmo' and meditated in the meditation caves including Dubphug Nyida Rangjon and Yangdag Chhokyi Dubphug. He also consecrated and praised the sacred place. He also concealed treasures in this place. Since Hyolmo Gangra is a place blessed by Guru Padmasambhava, this incense made from the herbs of this place is named 'Guru Incense'. Milarepa, the great Yogi of Tibet, came to 'Hyolmo' in the 12th century and meditated in the cave named 'Tagphug Senge Zong'. He praised 'Hyolmo' in his spiritual song.
